Good Morning Beautiful

I challenged myself recently to do something out of the comfort zone for me. But at the same time I think it is something important that needs to be done. Our society has a very twisted version of what is beautiful and that ideal of beauty is often unattainable.

Recently I was watching the Academy Award winning movie Frozen and fell in love with the part where they show Anna early in the morning looking like what every girl looks like in the morning... crazy.  Inspired by this seen, and the fact that Disney is finally showed parts of what women really are like, I challenged me to take pictures of myself every morning for a week.  Now these pictures are not easy for me to put on the blog, but they are important and beautiful.  It is important that we as women step up and redefine what is beautiful. We need to change the definition of what Hollywood sets as beautiful and find beauty in what we see everyday in the mirror. We can do this simply by loving who we are and not what we think we need to be.

So here you go... This is me and what I look like every morning when I wake up:

1 Peter 3:3-4
"Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious."

Proverbs 3:15-18
"She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed."

You are beautiful and don't let anyone tell you different.

Love always,
Mel

Why I am HAPPY

This blog post is something that God has laid on my heart recently, I hope it helps you wherever you are in life.

Well over and over this idea of "happiness" has been at the forefront of my life. What is happiness? What makes us happy? How do we maintain happiness? The idea of happiness is not something that is just made up or something we get from worldly desires, such as buying a new car, getting a new boyfriend, getting that promotion, or even falling in love.  Yes these moments can bring us a momentary happiness, but that happiness is empty.  It doesn't satisfy your soul, it doesn't last forever; therefore, that happiness will never make you content. You will always want the next "fix", the next "big" thing, another person who could make you "happier", you will search and search never finding what you desire.
Most people miss the one simple concept of happiness, that it is your CHOICE whether or not you are happy. YOU CHOOSE, no one else can make that decision for you. Bad things will always happen in your life, everyone dies, everything fades away, you flesh will fail you, you mind will deceive you, because these things on Earth are not PERMANENT! What is permanent is the love of Jesus!! Who through the passion of suffering died for us on the cross, so that through HIM only can we find true happiness.
So if you aren't happy you are missing the one choice you have, to choose to be happy through knowing that Jesus died for you to be happy, to be content, to feel ALIVE. It is that easy.  There is no ten step process you have to go through to find happiness. You just have to make the choice.
Everyday you have to make the decision if you are going to be happy today or not.  I find the days I spend in the Lord have more peace, more laughter, my soul is more content, and I am happier than any other. My soul finds peace in the Lord, and in that peace I find true ETERNAL happiness.
So if you are wondering why I am always positive and smiling, it is because I have found a soulful happiness through Jesus and nothing else.

"He that handles a matter wisely shall find good: and whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he."
~Proverbs 16:20

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song I will praise him."
- Psalm 28:7

So if you aren't happy, look at your heart.  Where are you spending your time, you money, and your love? Is it in worldly things or in heavenly promises?
CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY!

Through Christ alone, my happiness is found!

Love always,
A Happy Insightful Mel
